My natural hair colour is brown. And while I was growing up my mother said that I was not allowed to dye my hair. So while all of my friends could change their hair if they wanted too, I was not allowed. I mean yes did it save me some very interesting hairstyles and colours but it lead me down a path of just blah boring hair. I never had a hairstyle, I never did anything to my hair.
BUT finally when balayage came on the scene I started to see that maybe, just maybe my hair could actually be something. Months and months go by and I talk and talk about doing it to my hair but I could never convince myself to actually do it. I was too scared, thinking that if you bleach your hair that it actually just starts to fall out immediately. I know what you are thinking, come on jennie, don’t be so naive but guess what I really thought that. While you may not know, but I have some of the thinnest hair, and if I lose any I will inevitably look bald in the end. Pictured below is when i had the bayalage finally completed in my hair, it’s a grainy photo because quality of images when I was taking the picture here!
Next issue was finding someone who I could actually trust, since I had waited so long to take my hair virginity I thought it should be with someone who knew what they were doing. Thankfully I found the right person. In steps the best hairstylist in my opinion, Tara Tobin. She is a god send, she knows what to do with your hair and I would literally trust her with my life. The added bonus is we actually know each other beyond just getting my hair done, so every time I got my hair done we had such a good chat. Every single time I left Tara’s chair I literally felt 100 times better.
Since I had such an appreciation for her work, I struggled to find someone in Halifax who I could trust the way I did with Tara. But besides the point, I waited one year without getting my done at all. Basically my hair had taken back to it virginal status. Finally after much convincing on my mothers and boyfriends part, I was going to get my hair done.
I found a beautiful salon here in Halifax, well actually in Bedford. It’s called The Parlour, and honestly everything about it is sublime, very relaxing. I followed them on Instagram for a while before I jumped in to getting my hair done. I found one girl, Jenna at The Parlour that girl knows how to create some beautiful blonde hair! It took over 3 hours to finally get everything together with my hair, but she worked absolute magic on it. The cut is the best part, my colour is amazing, but I had never done anything with my cut. Not like this anyways! It’s a super blunt cut and much shorter than I would normally go, but LORDY do I look so much better with this style. I felt like a badass leaving the salon which as the softest person I know was really fun!
Honestly, while this sounds a bit much, the change has really helped me with my confidence and I will maybe actually go back to a salon more often now that I have a style that should probably be maintain. What do you guys feel about my new haircut and style? I really like it but I would love everyone elses opinion!
